LIMA 2005

The recent LIMA or Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition ended with a great success. More than RM 4 billion worth of contract was signed. The main contractee is the Malaysian Armed Forces.

But what interest me is not the MoUs and LoIs. I was amazed with the fleet of battleships parading the Langkawi ocean view. Of course the one with the most number is the Royal Malaysian Navy. But the most powerful and felt presence was the Indian Navy. They display a great amount of firepower through their destroyers and missile corvettes. Though it may seem these platforms carry too many system for their class, I couldn't agree more with the Indian Navy to emphasis on firepower and of course survivality. The same doctrin goes for the Russian Navy.

I wonder when the RMN would have such incredible asset to effectively become a deterrantor. If only I am the Defence Minister and we are as rich as Japan :)
